BRITTNEY MARTELLo- OWNER/ Level 2 Trainer
I am so fortunate to be able to lead this amazing group of fitness inspired people. This opportunity allows me to pursue my passion for helping others on their fitness journey. I am grateful to be in this amazing situation and could not ask for a better group of people to be surrounded by.
I was born and raised in Billings MT where I grew up competing in gymnastics, softball, dance, and track & field. I moved to Bozeman in 2007 to attend MSU while participating in the MSU cheer program. I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Health and Human Development with an emphasis in Kinesiology in 2011. After completing school I took a personal training job here in Bozeman where I enjoyed helping people change their lives through fitness. Along with training I coached kids ages 3-18 in the evenings in tumbling and all-star cheer. My passion is coaching individuals of all ages!
I was not introduced to CrossFit until 2014 where I fell instantly in love with the sense of community CrossFit builds. I joined the coaching staff in December 2014 and loved helping members work towards their goals and break down barriers creating overall stronger people. Along with CrossFit competitions, I enjoy hunting, hot yoga, competing in obstacle course races, hiking with the dogs, shooting my bow, golfing and traveling. I love everything Bozeman has to offer and could not see myself anywhere else.
I met my husband, Ryan, during my time at MSU and we were married in September 2013. Ryan, also from Montana, loves the Bozeman area and so we decided to stay after graduation. We welcomed our son, Gianni, into the world June 2019. We also have two Boxers furbabies, Bentley & Simba. My life has changed so much since entering motherhood and I am fortunate enough to have Hyalite where I can full time mom and work the gym. Ryan runs HCF alongside me and since having Gianni you may see him more than me.

I was raised in small town, Ennis, MT, alongside a great family. Early in life, this small town lifestyle consisted of training for, attending and/or playing any sport of the given season.
I attended Montana State University, where I studied and earned a Bachelors in the “Science of Health and Human Performance.” I met my soon to be wife, Brittney, during my first semester of school. I guess the rest was history. During my time at MSU I tried out for, and somewhat to my surprise made, the MSU Football team where I spent a couple seasons working hard for the sport and team. After college I shifted focus to career development. I am an entrepreneur at heart and opened multiple construction industry businesses in pursuit of my long-term career path. Thankfully, I found that long-term passion working as a local real estate agent/ owner-coach at HCF. Brittney and I welcomed in our first born son, Gianni in 2019. With him, our lives have forever changed for the better. We also live with our two boxers, Bentley and Simba.
Brittney introduced me to Crossfit. Coming from the world of traditional training methods, I looked at her wondering…Why do you have rips on your hands?... Is this worth really it? I later found out that Crossfit was indeed something new. It pushed my comfort zones but offered an honest type of fitness that had much more to offer than a daily WOD. I was naturally humbled by CF and learned to appreciate my personal health/fitness journey. This meant appreciating the small, daily improvements, and focusing on improving physical weaknesses that I was previously afraid to acknowledge. I have most importantly enjoyed the company that we keep before, during and after class. The relationships formed here are those of a genuine team. The bond of our team, this community, is important for many reasons. It provides support and accountability while making us all better, far beyond the aspects of fitness. For this I am very grateful and I know there are many others who feel the same.
With that, I am more than honored to have the opportunity to coach this community full people who are authentic and bring positive energy daily.

Having grown up in a very active and outdoorsy town, fitness came into my life as a necessity. Playing 4 sports a year competitively I had to be physically and mentally tough, and I came to find that I was one of those odd-balls who loved putting hours in at the gym almost as much as actually competing. I started working at my local gym when I was 14, and spent countless, happy, hours in there as one of my first jobs. Working out in a “normal” gym was great, but then I discovered CrossFit. Day-in and day-out following a routine became a bit mundane, so I instantly fell in love with the constantly varied nature of CrossFit. The opportunity to coach all the great people we have at our box is really a dream “job” to me, and I hope I can help each and every individual excel in and outside the gym!
I grew up in a small ski town in Vermont named Stowe, and went to college in Burlington Vermont (UVM). I studied Political Science and Economics in college, and continued to exercise and compete incessantly. I moved to Bozeman a year after I graduated college (2015), and have loved every second of it! I picked up CrossFit a few months in, and became addicted instantly. Turning fitness into a sport was like my two worlds colliding, and gave me something to compete in on a daily basis again.
I have competed in 3 competitions since I started CrossFit, and look forward to many more. Growing up I was competitive in hockey, soccer, tennis and lacrosse, and enjoyed skiing, hiking, and lifting as well. Nowadays I’m pretty open to trying any new active activities, and love meeting new people.

Born and raised in Seattle, WA, I was always an athlete. In high school I played soccer, basketball, and ran cross country. For college I attended the University of Washington where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Finance. After taking time to travel internationally post graduation, I spent a year in Bozeman to experience my girlfriend’s home town. Returning to Seattle, I worked in finance for a year before being presented with a job opportunity in Bozeman that was too appealing to ignore. Thankfully I had spent time as a member of Hyalite crossfit before I moved so settling back in could not have been easier.
All together I have been a Crossfit participant since 2008 when my older sister taunted me to come with her to a class. I was terrible, but I kept showing up. I knew I’d never be the biggest when it came to pure strength so focusing on improving my technique meant that I was soon able to lift heavier and go harder than people larger than myself. Fighting to keep up with the members next to me was (and still is) the best motivator for me. I also love the ability of Crossfit to improve every other physical activity I undertake. To not be sore after the first day of ski season or to finish playing soccer and not be fatally winded is a benefit that I’ll never overlook. Receiving my level one trainer certification has me excited to pass on the tips, tricks, and technique I’ve learned over the last decade and I couldn’t think of a better place to do so than at Hyalite Crossfit.

I started CrossFit in 2009 to midigate all of the running injuries I kept having. I was instantly hooked! I still love to run, but CrossFit has given me the strength and foundation to help prevent those injuries. Jeff & I moved to Bozeman in 2016 to enjoy life more. We quit our 40+ hour a week jobs and sold our CrossFit gym we had owned for over 3 years. I've always been a coach/instructor in some capacity since I was 18. I love helping people achieve results, finding their inner strength they didn't know they had, and discovering the simple "ah-ha" moments that help them move forward.

In early 2013, he and his wife Jackie opened CrossFit Bothell in Bothell, WA where he was the head CrossFit and Strongman coach until they sold the gym in late 2016, so they could follow their dreams and move to Montana. Jeff has 30 years of coaching experience in various sports including CrossFit, skiing, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and soccer. When he is not in the gym, you will find Jeff outside enjoying SW Montana and all that it has to offer. (He is married to the strong women pictured above.)

I grew up in Butte, Montana in a family that had experienced a lot of success in team sports growing up. As I grew up certain parts of sport culture turned me off early on. Although then I wouldn’t admit it, I VERY disliked team sports (still do). So, early on I really turned to extreme sports, namely, snowboarding as a kid. While I loved it I was often distressed that there was no real measurability. Then a CrossFit gym opened in my hometown when I was a senior and I decided to give it a try. I honestly can’t remember why I went back as my first workout seriously humbled me but I did.
I came to Bozeman as a freshman and continued to work out on campus in the functional training room.
This is the year where I learned to love the snatch and clean and jerk as well as CrossFit. Any free second I had was spent absorbing any knowledge I could from the CrossFit Journal. I have spent considerable time watching, coaching, and correcting friends in form and movement as well as attended a handful of seminars centered on the Olympic lifts.
Being a coach here at this gym is actually a dream come true for me. I have planted myself at this gym
desiring to: grow personally as an athlete, befriend everyone who walks through the door and, help
them do things they have never thought possible. I am a proud dog dad to my sweet girl Luna. If you ever have time ask me about my obsession with a pug.

I grew up in Montana getting to enjoy everything it had to offer. From skiing in the winter, hiking and camping in the summer, and trying every sport offered, I kept myself busy. Soccer was my first love and it took a hold at a young age. After playing soccer competitively for several years, the training that came along with it evolved. This is when I was first introduced to CrossFit. I found CrossFit had a way of challenging all of its participants and keeping people hooked.
I started college at Colorado State University, but transferred to MSU shortly after. I graduated with a Bachelors in Human and Health Performance and quickly decided I wanted to make CrossFit a staple of my life. I have been a member of Hyalite CrossFit since, and found it would be the perfect fit for me to begin my coaching career. I love seeing the look on a member's face when they reach a new PR or feel a lift click. CrossFit has continued to bring out my competitive side, challenge me as an athlete, and provide a community. I am beyond grateful for the experiences, past, present, and future.

I am the newest coach here at Hyalite CrossFit and am so excited and to begin my CrossFit coaching journey with all you wonderful people!
I was born in San Jose, California where I spent the first six years of my life living in the Bay Area before moving to Bozeman in 2004. I am currently a student at Montana State and will be finishing school this Spring. I will be graduating with a double major in business management and business marketing with a minor in entrepreneurship. I have been around sports all my life, as they have been an integral part of my childhood. I have played everything from baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, and skiing. In highschool, I was a varsity golfer for three years and played basketball for two. I never got into weightlifting until my junior year in highschool and prior to discovering CrossFit I was your average meathead who would go to big gyms and only do upper body. Yes, I was THAT guy.
I was introduced to CrossFit three years ago in 2017 when I was basically dragged in to try it by my mom! I was really hesitant and scared to come in because it was so different from what I was used to. Turns out, my first ever workout was MURPH...BOLD FIRST WORKOUT. You would think after that I would not step foot inside another CrossFit gym, but actually it had the total opposite effect. I was hooked instantly even though I couldn't even stand the following day. However, ever since that moment, CrossFit has completely changed my life. It has helped me accomplish goals I never thought were possible. Every day, the coaches and members push me harder than I ever thought I could. I love the competitiveness and the constantly varied nature of the workouts.
CrossFit has helped me accomplish my goals and now I want to reciprocate that feeling and help other people achieve things they too thought were out of reach. My goal as a coach is to consistently better myself and my own personal knowledge in order to help our members achieve their goals. Seeing someone hit a new PR on a back squat or a strict press are feelings I live for. I want to see people overcome that mental barrier and realize they can do anything they set their minds to.
Being given this opportunity to coach at this amazing gym is really a dream come true for me. I promise I will always bring un-matched energy and a kick-ass attitude to every class!

I was born and raised in southern Maryland and grew up as a very competitive soccer player. I loved the sport and camaraderie with big dreams of playing in college. After two ACL knee injuries in high school, those plans changed, but never lost the competitive athlete mentality.
After graduating from Penn State with an Engineering degree, my first job out of school took me to New Jersey. Shortly thereafter, I found CrossFit in 2008 and immersed myself completely in the sport. CrossFit reignited my competitive spirit with a way to channel my passion for sport. What I like most about CrossFit are the lifelong friendships I've gained along the way and being surrounded every day by like-minded people. I met my wife Kristen at CrossFit in 2009 which is also when I became a CrossFit Coach.
The past 10 years as a CrossFit Coach has been personally fulfilling as my “fun” side job. What I love most about coaching is passing on what I have learned to help others excel in their own CrossFit journeys. I really enjoy being a small part of our member’s CrossFit experiences, whether it be an “ah ha” moment where a movement suddenly clicks or celebrating a PR.
In January 2020, we finally made our lifelong dream of relocating happen West when moved to Bozeman. Hyalite has one of the most amazing communities I've come across and so grateful to now be a part of it and resuming my passion for coaching here with all of you.

I attended California State University Northridge earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. While attending college I began coaching youth soccer (2004) at Crescenta Valley Soccer Club. That coaching experience landed me a job, in 2008, at my alma-mater coaching the Varsity Girls High School soccer team. I coached youth and high school soccer until November 2020, when my family and I moved to Bozeman.
I started CrossFit in May of 2017 after one of my best friends sprinted passed me in our Semi-Pro soccer training sprint set. Yes, I played a season of Semi-Pro Soccer, lol. I asked her how the heck she got so fast and she replied... CROSSFIT!! I then said, “what time is class tomorrow?”
I jumped into coaching at our home gym, CrossFit Montrose, in 2018/2019. I have found over the years of coaching soccer and, now CrossFit, how much I love teaching technique. I love the challenge of watching people move and doing my best to help them move as efficiently as possible. I truly believe that without fundamentals nothing will work properly.
I started CrossFit for the physical benefits. I continue to do CrossFit because of the community, support, great friends, and mental fortitude it takes.
On a side note, I totally geek out when discussing Nutrition and optimal performance so If you ever want to chat food, I’m in.
